Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Head Flyman to join our technical crew on a part-time or contract basis. The successful candidate will have proven experience with theatrical rigging systems and a strong commitment to safety and professionalism. This position offers flexibility for individuals not currently engaged in full-time employment and who are available to work on a project-by-project basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the safe operation of all fly systems during rehearsals, performances, and technical runs.
- Coordinate rigging and movement of scenic elements, lighting, and other flown equipment.
- Work closely with the Technical Director and Production Manager to execute rigging plans.
Requirements:
- Must not be employed in a full-time position elsewhere.
- Must hold or be willing to obtain the following certifications as per Ontario theatre and workplace safety standards:
- Working at Heights.
- Fall Protection.
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) / Aerial Lift.
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures and rigging protocols.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel to various venues. (Bonus!).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in theatres.
- Familiarity with stage management and production processes.
